Meet Gregory E. Sherman...

With Gemological credentials earned in New York, London, and the University of Nantes in France, Gregory E. Sherman is one of the most highly qualified gemologists and jewelry appraisers in the United States. He is a 25-year jewelry industry professional with extensive experience in retail management, consulting, gemological research, jewelry appraising, and teaching. He has numerous credentials and diplomas from the Gemological Institute of America, the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, the International Society of Appraisers, and the American Society of Appraisers. He is the former Director of Marketing and Education at European Gemological Laboratory USA, one of the largest gemological laboratories in the world.

He has discussed jewelry topics on the radio and appeared on the History Channel’s Diamond Mines and on Shop NBC as a gemstone expert. He is coauthor of the booklet Changing the Color of Diamonds, the High Pressure High Temperature Process Explained, and has written numerous articles for the jewelry trade. Sherman has taught gemology at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and at the California Institute of Jewelry Training, and is an authorized instructor for the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

Gregory E. Sherman has examined some of the most valuable gems in the world including the 102-carat D flawless emerald cut diamond that set a record sales price of 22 million dollars in 2004. He has also examined the 13-carat D Flawless American Star—a diamond worth over 5 million dollars. At DeBeers Diamond Trading headquarters in London, Sherman has examined diamonds weighing well over 200 carats. Sherman has conducted field research on colored gemstones in the Far East and addressed some of the most prestigious gemological groups in the world.
